The roof over the living room is stripped already |
This morning the Stuckenberger team arrived at 07:30 (it should be noted on the day agreed on, May 6th) and got right to work stripping the roof. There were three men on the roof, one controlling the crane and I was on the ground doing anything that needed to be done and taking care of the container (which was swinging out of the crane, full of tiles). By 10:00 most of the roof over the living room area was stripped. The tiles are going out into a field, where the neighbour needs them to stop his tractor sinking into the mud every winter. The lats and other timber (like the boards on the exposed underside) will be burned.
The walls of the bathroom and the kitchen are also in. The were prepared over in Stuckenberger's hall and brought on a truck. The crane dropped them in and two of the carpenters had them up in no time.
The rest of the day will probably be a bit slower, as they stopped stripping tiles at the fire wall. There are a couple of photos of the work thus far below.

The weather is ideal for opening a roof |

This much got done before lunch (11:00) |
One of the things that needs to be considered when doing roof repairs or replacements is the weather. With how fast the workers did the roofing, your house would be protected before rain comes. I just hope they did not hasten too much that they have forgotten about the quality of their work.

We were lucky with the weather up to now. When the roof came off (well, half the roof) the weather was perfect. The roofers got most of the work done and got the bitumen paper in. They were careful to cover the roof up with a tarpaulin every evening.

It's really important to do roofing during the summer. If not, roofing can be hard, most especially when it’s raining or snowing. By the way, lucky you for having hired very professional roofers.

You could now expect a well-installed roof. Roofers work best when the weather is good. They work effectively and fast. Manpower is important when doing a construction. Workers needs to be in their best physical condition to do well at work, and that includes having good weather to keep them conditioned. Doing well at work results in a great finished product.
